My Ham Radio Journey #

Licensed since July 2019, I’m an enthusiastic ham operator exploring the fascinating world of amateur radio. Living in an apartment hasn’t stopped me from enjoying this incredible hobby!

Station Setup #

Current Equipment #

  • HF/VHF/UHF: Icom IC-715 (All mode transceiver)
  • Handheld: Kenwood TH-D75
  • SDR: RTL-SDR for monitoring and experimentation

Operating Conditions #

Operating from an apartment means I’ve had to get creative! I primarily:

  • Operate mobile for traditional voice contacts
  • Focus on digital modes at home (especially FT8 for weak signal work)
  • Experiment with portable operations

  • Enjoying Winlink for emergency communications practice
  • D-STAR digital voice communications
  • APRS for tracking and chatting with friends
